The Red Wing Fire Department was dispatched to smoke coming from the area of Tyler Road North and Cannon River Avenue in Red Wing Monday at 11:12 am.
Red Wing firefighters arrived on the scene in approximately 5 minutes from the time of dispatch and found a wildland fire spreading through a wetland area.
The area burned was approximately 3 acres. The fire attack was slowed by difficult marshy conditions and the incident was placed under control within 60 minutes of arrival.
Crews remained on the scene for approximately 2 hours to extinguish hot spots.
No injuries were reported and no buildings were damaged, the cause of the fire is under investigation. The scene was turned over to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Red Wing Fire Department units were already engaged in 1 emergency medical call at the time of dispatch for this incident.
While this incident was ongoing, Red Wing Fire Departments units and mutual aid agencies responded to 3 additional emergency medical calls.
