PEM High School Plant Sale

It’s a sure sign of spring: the annual PEM Plant Sale is at hand.

PEM High School horticulture students are hosting the event through Wednesday, May 21 at the school’s greenhouse.

The greenhouse is open from 9 am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday, and from 9 am to 1 pm Saturday.

The Plainview News reports it features perennials and annuals, three varieties of tomatoes, hanging baskets and porch pots, among other items.

Horticulture instructor Steve Hinrichs said he has 15 class members this year and they are required to put in the hands-on work to see the sale through its entirety.

Students help plan the sale and give feedback on what is ordered, based on what sold well the previous year or did not sell well.

They also help to plan the ‘recipes’ that go into creating the hanging baskets and porch pots.
