During a special meeting last week, the Red Wing School Board voted to keep Tower View under the auspices of the Goodhue County Education District for next year.
Director of Teaching & Learning Dr. Martina Wagner presented three options, with the board settling on option 2: Accept new proposal from GCED with overall cost savings $8,201.21 with contingency plan to review programming structure with possibility to assume oversight of their own ALP or ALC in Red Wing in the 2024-25 school year.
Goodhue County Education District currently operates the program, but Red Wing Public Schools holds the lease at the Anderson Center at Tower View and the teachers are under the Education Minnesota Red Wing contract.
GCED had been exploring options to trim and/or move the ALC. Red Wing School Board members made clear that the program will stay at Tower View.
The lease runs through 2028.
