Lake City Five for Food Initiative

Five for Food, an initiative of the Greater Lake City Community Foundation for the Lake City Food Shelf, begins its tenth year on February 15th. 

The drive will end on March 31st.

The sponsor’s funds are pooled to match, dollar for dollar, contributions $5 and greater, up the total of the sponsor’s pool. The total raised last year was $45,611. Due to the increased food shelf use and increased cost of food and expenses, the goal for 2024 is $50,000.

Five for Food has raised over $260,000 in the past nine years, which has allowed the Lake City Food Shelf to provide over one million dollars of food for those in need in the greater Lake City area.  It is the largest source of donations to the Food Shelf each year. 

The Lake City Food Shelf is an IRS recognized charity and donations are tax deductible.
