The at Tower View in Red Wing has been approved for a $13,000 Grant for Arts Projects award from the National Endowment for the Arts to support the center’s Deaf Artists Residency (DAR), the only residency opportunity in the world devoted exclusively to Deaf artists.
Now in its fifth iteration, the goal of the Deaf Artist Residency Program at the Anderson Center is to create artistic and organizational networks that support the development of the Deaf Arts as a distinct cultural area within the larger context of American Culture.
The program has supported twenty-three visual artists, writers, and scholars through four artist cohorts in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2021.
Five artists will participate in the upcoming June 2022 program, supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
