City of Plainview National Service Park Launch

Plainview is about to become home to the first park in the nation dedicated to elevating all forms of national service.

Over the summer, the City of Plainview received a $10,000 Small Town Grant from Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF), to support the development of this park which will highlight Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, military and other forms of service.

Four of the original 1961-1962 Peace Corps volunteers are from Plainview.

On Saturday, November 4, there will be a daylong National Service Park launch event with distinguished national speakers, food, learning and music.

The event will be held at the Plainview High School gymnasium at 500 West Broadway.
