Walk to End Alzheimer’s®- River Cities Results

Local community members recently came together for this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s®- River Cities on Sept. 21 at Colvill Park.

About 125 walkers and many donors and sponsors raised more than $31,000 to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s classes and resources for local families, and advance dementia research.

This year’s honorary family was the family of Karen Johnson, who has been battling Alzheimer’s disease. Karen was able to participate in the Walk, along with her daughters Cindy and Kim.

The top fundraising team for the Walk was ‘Deer Crest Cruisers,’ which raised $5,940 for the cause, far exceeding the team’s goal of $3,000. Vicki Gerrits earned the title of top individual fundraiser, bringing in $2,385 for the cause.

The Alzheimer’s Association and the River Cities Walk Committee wish to thank Benedictine Living Community in Red Wing and the Red Men Club for their local sponsorship of the event.

Donations of any amount are continuing to be accepted for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s River Cities until Dec. 31, 2024.

The Association relies on these funds to provide its critical programs for families in the community. Gifts can be made at http://act.alz.org/redwing
