Anthony Edwards did it all as the Minnesota Timberwolves edged the Indiana Pacers 113-111 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Edwards poured in 44 points during the victory, including ten points in the final two-and-a-half minutes. He also blocked a game-tying shot attempt at the buzzer to seal Minnesota's win. Rudy Gobert chipped in with 18 points and 14 rebounds. The Wolves are in first place in the Western Conference with a 44-and-19 record. They visit the Cavaliers tonight.
The Minnesota Timberwolves will without their All-Star forward for at least a month. ESPN is reporting that Karl-Anthony Towns will have surgery on a torn meniscus in his left knee. The report adds that Towns will be re-evaluated in a month, and the team expects Towns to be back in the line-up early in the Western Conference playoffs. Towns is averaging 22-point-one points and eight-point-four rebounds per game in 60 starts this season.
The Minnesota Wild erupted for four goals in the third period during a 5-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes at Mullett Arena. Kirill Kaprizov scored in the second period to give Minnesota an early 1-0 lead, but Clayton Keller and Michael Carcone scored within seven seconds of one another in the second minute of the third period to give Arizona a brief lead. Zach Bogosian lit the lamp 30 seconds later to tie the game, and Joel Eriksson Ek put the Wild up for good in the eighth minute of the frame. Brock Faber and Connor Dewar added empty-netters to seal the deal. The Wild are in sixth place in the Central Division with 66 points and a 30-27-and-6 record. They visit Colorado tonight.
The Minnesota Twins are back in action when they take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in a Spring Training contest at LECOM Park today. The Twins had an off day yesterday after beating Boston 7-1 on Wednesday. Louie Varland is slated to make the start for Minnesota. First pitch is at 12:05PM.
The Minnesota Gophers wrap up the 2023-24 regular season with a game against the Northwestern Wildcats at Welsh-Ryan Arena tomorrow night. The Gophers are coming off a 70-58 loss to Indiana at home on Wednesday. However, they pulled out a 75-66 overtime win against Northwestern when the teams played in Minneapolis on February 3rd. Minnesota is tied for eighth place in the Big Ten with a 9-and-10 conference record and an 18-and-12 mark overall. Tomorrow's game tips off at 8:00PM.
The Bucks are back on the hardwood tonight. The team tips off against the Lakers in Los Angeles. Milwaukee started its west coast road trip on the wrong foot following a blowout loss to the Warriors. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 23 points, while Damian Lillard sunk 20. Milwaukee slipped to 41-and-22, but still leads the Central Division.
Wisconsin is now 19-and-11 on the college basketball season after a 78-66 win over Rutgers. The Badgers close out the regular season at Number-3 Purdue on Sunday afternoon. The Milwaukee Panthers crushed Green Bay 95-84 in the quarterfinal round of the Horizon League Tournament. Milwaukee advances to the Semifinals on Monday night. Elsewhere, Number-9 Marquette is 22-and-8 and finishes the regular season at Xavier tomorrow night.
