Red Wing Aces 4 Northfield Knights 3 (10 innings)-The Aces prevailed in yet another extra innings game Sunday at breezy and cool Sechler Park in Northfield.

Red Wing opened the scoring with two runs in the top of third inning against Knights starter pitcher Cole Stanchina. Brodie Gibart walked with two and Reid Hartmann singled. Zach Harding's opposite field double scored Gibart and Adam THygesen's single scored Hartmann.

Northfield bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning against Aces starter Aaron Johnson. Tim Maus walked with the bases loaded to force in a run and a fielders choice ground out by Gabe Heinritz scored another run.

The Aces grabbed the lead again in the top of the sixth inning. Dixon Irwin singled , Marcus Walm singled and Nick Azar walked to load the bases against Stanchina. Jake Rodgers struck out for the second out of the inning but Brodie Gibart walked to force in Irwin to give Red Wing the 3-2 lead.

The Aces defense shined in the bottom of the sixth inning when Adam Thygesen speared a sizzling one hop drive off the bat off Austin Koep to start a souble play. In the seventh inning, Tyler Rodgers made a great diving grab in left field on a sinking line drive by Gabe Heinritz.

Aaron Johnson retired the first two batters he faced in the eighth inning but Blake Mellgren singled, stole second and scored on Aldon Severson's single to center. Northfield had just five hits (two by Mellgren and three by Severson) overall.

The Aces scored the winning run in the top of the tenth against Tyler Hughes. Dixon Irwin doubled with two out and Marcus Walm walked. Tyler Rodgers then singled to left field to drive in Irwin with the game winner.

Jaren Schwantz retired the Knights in order in the bottom of the tenth inning to get the win. Schwantz went 2 1/3 hitless innings of relief of Aaron Johnson to get first Aces career win. Zach Harding had three hits and Dixon Irwin two hits while Adam Thygesen, Marcus Walm, Tyler Rodgers and Brodie Gibart had one hit apiece.

Red Wing is 8-6 overall and 5-1 in one run games this season. The Aces next game is Wednesday as they host Hampton at 7:30pm.
