Red Wing’s class of 2023 donned caps and gowns 12 days early – not to practice for commencement but to parade through Burnside, Sunnyside and Twin Bluff schools.
As seniors entered the buildings, younger students waved streamers, cheered and held up signs. Former teachers applauded and called out well wishes.
Getting some recess time on the Sunnyside’s playgrounds was an unexpected treat, many of them agreed.
The celebratory tour was a first for Red Wing Public Schools. RWHS Principal George Nemanich, who is retiring after this school year, made it clear that he had high expectations in hopes of creating a new tradition.
This years Commencement will be held at Red Wing High School’s Stadium (weather permitting) Gym with limited seats (in case of rain) at 7 pm, Friday, June 2nd.
