On Friday, September 20, the Red Wing Police Department received a complaint about a social media post on a Snap Chat app regarding a threat to The International School of Minnesota in Eden Prairie.
The post contained a threat of a school shooting that was to take place on Monday, September 23, 2024.
The Red Wing Police Department worked directly with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and the Eden Prairie Police Department.
With the assistance of the other agencies, it was determined that the post was placed by a 13-year-old juvenile, who was taken into custody.
After investigation, there was no credible threat to The International School of Minnesota, and the situation was resolved.
The Red Wing Police Department would like to remind families to discuss the importance of responsible social media use with juveniles and ask that they think carefully before making posts online.
Please emphasize that spreading rumors, making threats, or even joking about a school shooting may have serious consequences.
