Plainview’s City Council met on on April 8th and City engineer Brian Malm said plans and specifications were submitted to the Minnesota Department of Health on March 28 in regard to construction of a new water tower to alleviate air entrainment in Well No. 3.
Air entrainment in wells refers to the introduction of air bubbles into the water being pumped.
The Plainview News reports the application for the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority Project Priority List will be submitted in early May.
The application for inclusion on the PFA Intended Use Plan will be submitted in early June.
Project eligibility for low interest loan funding for 2026 construction will be dependent on its ranking on the IUP, which will be released in September.
In other Council business, Malm said the City is working with developer BA Holdings in regard to the recently approved property annexation and utility extension, to ensure the proposed layout meets city requirements.
The City will establish construction costs for a Business Development Public Infrastructure (BDPI) grant application when the layout is determined.
