The Lake City City Council passed the city’s tax levy and budget last week and Mayor Mark Nichols is pleased with the results.
Nichols says there is an increase to the budget of just over 6-percent and will help fund public services and upcoming projects.
Mayor Nichols says taxes in Lake City remain relativly low compared to other communities.
The total 2023 levy is $4,181,693, a 6.19% levy increase.
Depending on the assessment on your property, your taxes may actually go down due to a large increase in tax capacity, meaning Lake Citys market values have been increasing steadily outpacing the tax levy.
