Gurek Convenience Tobacco License

Elgin’s City Council on March 18 passed a motion to suspend the tobacco license of Gurek, Inc., operator of the Gurek convenience store at 15 2nd Ave. NE in Elgin, for at least 30 days for selling items which were not permitted.

According to the Plainview News, the City had received a letter from the Minnesota Department of Revenue, noting that Gurek has been previously cited for tobacco sales violations.

After further discussion, the Council approved a motion to send Gurek, Inc. a letter notifying them of the first offense which includes a $75 administrative fine, and the City’s intent to suspend the tobacco license starting May 1, 2026, for 30 days.
