Eagles aren’t the only focus at the National Eagle Center this summer. The popular kids' program Fishing on the Refuge is returning for another season of free angling.
Each summer, they offer kids ages 15 and under the opportunity to experience fishing since they do not require a license in the state of Minnesota.
Fishing on the Refuge will be available from 10 am to 3 pm every Thursday and Sunday June 8th through August 12th.
Fishing on the Refuge provides everything they need: the poles, the tackle, and the life vests. Fishing on the Refuge is FREE with paid admission to the Center. The Center will have a member of staff or volunteer on-site to assist participants.
The National Eagle Center uses this opportunity to teach about enjoying the outdoors responsibly, especially the importance of using lead-free tackle to prevent the unintentional poisoning of Bald Eagles and other species of birds and animals.
All fishing with National Eagle Center equipment is catch and release and participants fish from the public dock located outside the Center.
