Downtown Red Wing has a new "history tour" program that community members can enjoy.
They just launched the self-guided tour on 10 buildings and using sticker QR Codes. It's a new take to engage with the stories and legacy of our community.
They collaborated with the Historical Society and unearthed some great stories:
Pirius Bakery (pre-hanisch and brachslers (brash-slers) trained 2,000 bakers in Paris during WW2.
Iron Works owners led a coloured regiment during the Civil War and brought some of their former men to work in RW.
Other self-guided tours offered include, the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad Depot, St. James Hotel, Boxrud Brothers Block and several others.
