For the first time since the award was established in 2001, the Red Wing Human Rights Commission has bestowed the Amos Owen Award on not one, not two, but four deserving individuals.
The first three recipients of 2024, Noah White III, Franky Jackson, and Joey Taylor, were nominated together for their work in Prairie Island's Tribal Historic Preservation Office.
The nomination noted their contributions to the preservation of historic places in and around Red Wing, as well as their work to bring the Prairie Island Indian Community and the City of Red Wing together.
The final recipient was Nicholas Western Boy, who received multiple nominations and was honored for his commitment to and involvement in his community and for all he does to uphold the legacy of his grandfather, Amos Owen.
