A western Wisconsin nurse accused of cutting off a man's foot is out of jail, but she can't work in health care.
The judge in 38-year old Mary Brown's case yesterday set conditions for her release. Pierce County prosecutors say Brown, from Durand, cut a man's foot off back in May.
She didn't have permission to amputate the foot and the man's family says there was no need to do so. Brown told investigators the man's foot was dying because of frostbite. He later died and she's facing abuse charges.
Brown of Durand is charged with physical abuse of an elder person intentionally causing great bodily harm and mayhem, with both charges carrying enhancers due to the victim being an elder person, according to online court records.
