The Red Wing Port Authority has introduced the West End District Business Assistance Programs to stimulate economic growth and redevelopment. Â Â Â
These initiatives focus on relocation, demolition, and renovation. With a substantial initial budget of $150,000, the program seeks to breathe new life into the West End District.
Â
The Port Authority is leading a redevelopment planning effort targeting the former Bauer Built property on Old West Main Street.
To encourage businesses to relocate from this area to other locations within Red Wing, they offer a relocation assistance program. Eligible enterprises can apply for 1:1 matching funds up to $25,000 to cover moving and reestablishment costs.
Â
The demolition assistance program addresses the need to clear outdated or unsafe structures, paving the way for new development. Property owners can apply for 1:1 matching funds up to $25,000 for environmental remediation, building demolition, and site restoration.
Â
The renovation assistance program focuses on improving and expanding existing buildings within the West End District. Property owners can apply for 1:1 matching funds up to $50,000 for eligible building renovation costs.
This program supports visible exterior improvements, energy-related upgrades, site enhancements, and new signage, contributing to a more attractive and functional business environment.
One notable recipient of this program is Kelly's Taphouse, awarded a $20,000 renovation grant.
