Minnesota Supreme Court RWHS

Something very unique is happening in Red Wing this week.

The Minnesota Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a real case at Red Wing High School at 9:30 am on Thursday.

Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie E. Hudson, says “Showing high school students their justice system up close is one of the most important ways our Court works to build public trust in and understanding of the Judicial Branch.”

The court will convene in the Red Wing High School auditorium to hear oral arguments in Randy Dale Sixta, Appellant, vs. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Respondent. (No. A25-0304).

Following the oral arguments, the Supreme Court justices will hold a question-and-answer session with students, share lunch with student representatives, and spend the afternoon visiting classrooms.

The Minnesota Supreme Court Traveling Oral Arguments program began in Rochester, Minn., in 1995. Since then, it has taken center stage in the court’s public outreach and education efforts.

The visit to Red Wing High School Thursday will be the 58th traveling oral argument event for the court.
