Wabasha New Warning Siren

The City of Wabasha, in conjunction with Homeland Security and Emergency Management in the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, has applied for Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for a new warning siren.
The new warning siren will upgrade the city’s existing public notification system by resolving a critical coverage gap.
Public notice is required of any federal actions that may affect floodplains or wetlands. Under the National Historic Preservation Act, public notice is also required for some projects which have the potential to affect historic properties.
Key Highlights of Project
Resolves a critical gap in emergency alert coverage for higher-elevation residential districts.
Installation of a new Federal Signal 2001-130 high-power, 130-decibel rotating siren.
Includes battery backup for continued operation during power outages.
Ensures seamless integration with the existing Wabasha County Commander base station,
Public participation is encouraged.
