Wabasha Mayor Emily Durand is excited about the news the City received this month about the $5-million dollars in Federal funding for the Highway 60 Realignment Project.
Durand says the total cost of the project is now an estimated 9.89-million dollars. The City has a request for additional state aid to cover the rest of the cost, and so far, it looks promising.
Â
Mayor Durand says the biggest need for the project is traffic and pedestrian safety and flood control.
 Â
The City of Wabasha is asking for just over $4.89 million in state bonding funds to re-route Highway 60.
Durand says phase two of the project will be to develop housing and commercial in the area around the new road.Â
