Wabasha Highway 60 Realignment Federal Funds

Wabasha Mayor Emily Durand is excited about the news the City received this month about the $5-million dollars in Federal funding for the Highway 60 Realignment Project.

Durand says the total cost of the project is now an estimated 9.89-million dollars. The City has a request for additional state aid to cover the rest of the cost, and so far, it looks promising.

Mayor Durand says the biggest need for the project is traffic and pedestrian safety and flood control.

The City of Wabasha is asking for just over $4.89 million in state bonding funds to re-route Highway 60.

Durand says phase two of the project will be to develop housing and commercial in the area around the new road.
