Wabasha County CPKC Evening Rail Work

ree

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) will perform nighttime work on the rail corridor parallel to U.S. 61 in Wabasha County in the coming weeks.

Residents should expect track maintenance machines to generate noise and light during the overnight hours while this work is underway, which is expected to last through June and into mid-July.

The program involves work ers replacing ties nearing the ends of their useful service lives and resurfacing the track.

Workers will also remove and reinstall grade crossings on roads that intersect the line, creating smoother transitions between crossings and adjacent road surfaces.

Track crews will start and end their work periods in Kellogg east of Smith Street and Kemp Avenue for part of the duration of the work.

CPKC has scheduled the work for nighttime hours to minimize impacts to freight and passenger rail traffic, including Amtrak’s Empire Builder and Borealis passenger trains.
