Wabasha County Campground Death

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office investigated a Lakeville, Minnesota womans death that was reported on August 30th.

The woman, 63- year old Barbara McBride-Law, was found dead in a camper at Mac’s Park Place and the death was considered suspicious until further information was obtained, which is standard practice.

Rochester’s ABC 6 News acquired search warrants that detail a suspicious scene where McBride-Law was found.

The newly filed search warrants state that she was found with “large purple bruises” on her upper arm. The medical examiner also found lacerations inside her mouth, petechiae in her eyes, and outer neck bruising. The examiner was unable to give a cause of death, according to the warrants.

Deputies on scene also found damage inside McBride-Law’s camper, noting damage to the wall near her head and a vase with a small amount of blood on it. A man who was with McBride-Law the night before she was found, told law enforcement that the two had been “blackout drunk together” that night.

He told law enforcement that he left the next morning around 3:30 a.m., but according to the search warrants, a witness said they saw McBride-Law at around 6:30 a.m., and the man’s truck did not leave the campsite until 7:30 a.m.

The warrants note that deputies observed scratches on the man’s hands, which he blamed on car maintenance.

Law enforcement have obtained search warrants for the man’s phone, DNA, and vehicle, but at this point, he has not been charged with a crime.
