Wabasha Co Historical WW II Camp

ree

This weekend the Wabasha County Historical Society will host a special program exploring one of the lesser-known chapters of Minnesota’s history, a World War II camp.

On Saturday at 2 pm you are invited to join Jeremy Darst, Interpretive Naturalist at Whitewater State Park, as he brings to life the story of the camp and the men held there during World War II.

According to the Plainview News, Darst is a southeastern Minnesota native who has worked as a Naturalist with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the past 18 years, combining his love for nature and history.

His favorite part of the job is sharing these stories with the public and connecting people to the landscapes and history.

The program will be held at the Wabasha County Historical Society Museum in Reads Landing. All are welcome to attend.

The museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 12.

Visit www.wabashacountyhistory.org or call  (651) 764-2386 for more information.
