BOYS & GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY:
Red Wing host their Cross Country Invite
A pair of winless teams meet in North Carolina when the Vikings visit the Panthers at Bank Of America Stadium on Sunday. Minnesota is 0-and-3 after dropping a game to the Chargers 28-24 in Week Three. Kirk Cousins leads the NFL in passing yards and Justin Jefferson has more receiving yards than anyone in the league, but Minnesota's defense has given up over 425 yards of offense in each of the last two games. The game will be the Vikings first against their old wide receiver Adam Thielen. Safety Lewis Cine was the only player that did not practice due to injury for Minnesota yesterday. The Purple have won four of their last five games against Carolina. Sunday's game kicks off at noon. Hear the game on Bluff Country 1250/KCUE 99 FM at 11 am, kickoff at noon!
The Twins weren't able to complete a sweep of the Oakland A's thanks to a 2-1 loss at Target Field yesterday. The game was tied at one heading into the eighth before Kenta Maeda gave up a go-ahead home run to Ryan Noda. Maeda was charged with his eighth loss. The Twins fell to 85-and-74 and are now locked into the three-seed in the American League. Joe Ryan starts for Minnesota against Colorado tonight. Hear the game on WBHA at 6:30 pm, 1st pitch at 7:10 pm.
The Minnesota Gophers aim to avoid a third consecutive loss when they host Louisiana at Huntington Bank Stadium tomorrow. The Gophers are coming from a 37-34 overtime loss against Northwestern last weekend. Minnesota is 2-and-2 overall and 1-and-1 in the Big Ten. The Gophers have won all three of their prior match-ups against the Ragin' Cajuns.
The Packers got blown out by the Lions 34-20 on Thursday Night Football from Lambeau. Jordan Love completed 23-of-36 passes for one touchdown and two interceptions. He also added a rushing score. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon combined for just 29 yards on 10 carries while Romeo Doubs caught nine passes for 95 yards. Christian Watson hauled-in a TD pass in his season debut while Quay Walker amassed 19 tackles. Rudy Ford picked off Jared Goff once as Green Bay fell to 2-and-2. The Pack are second in the division and will kick off against the Raiders in Las Vegas a week from Monday.
The Brewers stifled the Cardinals 3-0 to win their series from Milwaukee. Corbin Burnes got the start and struck out four batters over four innings while Julio Teheran earned the win after allowing just one hit over four innings of relief. Christian Yelich went two-for-three with an RBI while William Contreras also drove in a run. Ethan Small notched his first career save in the ninth as Milwaukee improved to 90-and-69. The Brewers have already clinched the NL Central division title. The team hosts the Cubs tonight for the final series of the regular season.
