School Board Chair Jim Bryant officially introduced new Superintendent Bob Jaszczak as part of the Monday board meeting.
Â
On May 6, the School Board approved a three-year contract. Mr. Jaszczak succeeds Superintendent Martina Wagner on July 1. He spent this last Monday and Tuesday in the District as part of the transition plan.
The board publicly thanked Dr. Wagner for her service and for working with the new superintendent.
Â
The big action item on Monday's agenda was approval of the preliminary 2024-2025 school year budget. The total budget for the 2025 fiscal year is nearly $48 million.Â
Â
This will include taking $125,000 from the Fund Balance to keep student walking distances at 1.5 miles for middle and high school students and 1 mile for elementary students.
Â
Board members had hoped to avoid dipping into General Fund reserves, but ultimately decided that they would not ask students to walk an additional half mile.
