Brian Metling, Red Wing Police Department Assistant Chief, says most people may not realize it, but the city has seen a fairly substantial increase in people reporting dog bites in the psat couple of years.
Metling says there are common sense ways of protecting yourselves, others and other pets, such as having dogs safely secured on your own property and being mindful when out walking them.
Metling says there have been some staffing changes in the department and soon you will see additional officers in areas in town that need more attention cracking down on traffic violations, including speeding, cross walks and using cell phones while driving.
