Red Wing Highway 61 Bridge Delays

Motorists near the Highway 61 bridge over the Canadian Pacific Railway south of Red Wing will encounter brief traffic delays Friday, during daytime hours while construction crews pour concrete for the new bridge deck, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The work is scheduled 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Flagging operations are anticipated to occur 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. when the pump truck is being used on the west side of the bridge because it will partially be on Highway 61 northbound.

Workers will stop traffic to allow vehicles to take turns traveling north and south through the work zone near the pump truck.

The original Highway 61 bridge was built in 1955 and remains in use during construction. It will be removed in the fall after traffic switches to the new bridge.

The project is expected to be completed next month.
