Wednesday morning at 11:46 am, a Firefighter with the Red Wing Fire Department noticed smoke in the area of 7th Street and Bluff Street in Red Wing.
Upon investigation, there was smoke coming from a residence in the 700 block of Bluff Street in Red Wing.
The remaining fire units were dispatched and responded to the scene. Firefighters made entry into the home and extinguished the fire. There were no residents home at the time of the fire, but 1 dog was safely removed.
The home sustained moderate fire damage that was contained to the living area on the first floor. The lower unit was left unhabitable. The second-floor unit was unharmed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but holiday decorations are not believed to be involved.
Red Wing Police Department, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers, and Xcel Energy assisted the Red Wing Fire Department on the scene.
Ellsworth Ambulance provided station coverage during the incident.
