Red Wing Downtown Holiday Lights

A pair of women who lead Red Wing Area Chamber of Commerce and Red Wing Downtown Mainsteet respectivly have successfully led a campaign to bring holiday lights back to the downtown area.   

Andrea Hanson and Michelle Larson and have recruited most downtown businesses to follow suite after they adorned their buildings with light.

Hanson says is been around 20 years since downtown lights lit up Red Wing and the tradition is coming back. Electrical code and overall cost have stopped the effort in the past.

Andrea and Michelle started the movement separate from their roles at the Chamber or Downtown Main Street. Hanson says it’s simply two girls who love Red Wing and got excited enough to take action and everyone is doing a little bit collectively as a group.

Participating stores have purchased their own lights, installed them and are plugging them in to their own outlets.

Hanson says going forward, each business will maintain their own lights.
