The Red Wing City Council Monday received updates on some exciting redevolpment projects in town.
The white building known as "Bauer Built" on Old West Main Street has been sitting vacant for quite a while but the Council approved the Port Authority's recommendation to work with developer Rebound Partners.
Tentative plans include a food hall for locally developed restaurants or local chefs/restaurateurs.
Three parcels downtown are being proposed for new apartments – mostly a range of studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom market-rate units.
If the proposal passes, the area where Mike's Barbershop sits on West Fourth Street, plus the upper floor of Hallstrom's, will house the new units.
The developer is asking that the three parcels create a new Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district, with TIF assistance from the City.
The public is invited to a public hearing on the proposal on Monday, November 28 at 6 pm during the next City Council meeting.
