Donations and funds raised during a side-by-side ‘Poker Run’ fundraiser will allow Plainview American Legion Post 179 to purchase and donate eight air-conditioning units to residents of an apartment building for veterans in Rochester.
According Plainview News, Legion manager Judy Radke said the July 4 Poker Run included stops at five local bars. Jeff ‘Razor’ Rahman, owner of the Out of Bounds Sports Bar in Elgin, donated $100 to the cause, and poker hand winner Kevin Wiltsie of Plainview donated $100 back for the veterans.
The eight-unit Ultima apartment complex was recently purchased by the St. Paul-based Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. It houses veterans experiencing homelessness.
