Pine Island Warrant Service Incident

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office received a criminal complaint on Monday, April 6th alleging criminal sexual conduct involving a juvenile victim.
After investigating, investigators executed a search warrant on Friday, April 17th at the Pine Island resident of William Wayne Prigge.
Investigators attempted to interview Prigge, but he declined to provide a statement.
Following the search and additional investigative leads, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Prigge, along with a secondary search warrant for his residence.
On Friday, April 24th, around 2:37 pm, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at a residence in the 400 block of 6th Street NW to execute the warrants.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Prigge who retreated inside. A short time later, deputies heard a single gun shot from inside the residence.
After securing the scene and entering the home, deputies found Prigge deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
No deputies discharged their weapons during the encounter.
The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in preliminary findings has ruled the manner of death as suicide.
Out of respect for the privacy of the families involved, no further details regarding the investigation or evidence recovered will be released at this time.
