
The 19th-annual Plainview-Elgin-Millville District Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the 4-6 building in Elgin.
The Plainview News reports there were 24 students involved, from fifth through eighth grade.
Students participating for the fifth grade were Patrick Rubio, Myka Reiter, Tessa Speedling, Arthur Locke, Mia Eisenman and Abel Benike.
Grade six participants were Lexi McGraw, Nate Kalmbach, Bella Fenton, Jacey McGurren, Kinsley Ronningen and Camryn Young.
Students participating for the seventh grade were Will Schumacher, Lukas Klennert, Camryn Nesler, Braelynn Davis, Cash Haley and Nele Judisch.
Eighth-grade participants were Kariella Snyder, Kellan Hebert, Addy Kobler, Landyn Lewis, John Harrington and Shelby Schroeder.
Addy Kobler was pronounced the school champion and Landyn Lewis took second place.
Addy and Landyn will advance to the Regional Spelling Bee, scheduled for Feb. 4 at the Wood Lake Meeting Center/Southeast Service Cooperative in Rochester.
The Southeast winner will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, scheduled for May, 2025 in Maryland.
