According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, as of now, signs are pointing towards severe spring flooding being less likely.
Todd Shea, warning coordination meteorologist, says factors that go into spring flood potential include location of snowpack, river ice, and frost depth among other information.
Shea says it’s a little too early to say for certain there won’t be any flooding, they need to see how things develop north of Red Wing.
Shea says so far they have seen nearly perfect melting conditions in Southeast Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
