Mississippi River Flooding Forecast




Water levels continue to climb on the Mississippi River causing anywhere from minor to major flooding.


According to the National Weather Service, the river at Hastings below Lock and Dam 2 was at 16.27 feet as of noon Tuesday and is expected to reach major flood level, 18 feet by this afternoon, and crest at 20.3 ft. by Saturday.

 

Red Wing’s measurement stood at 13.43 as of Tuesday afternoon and is forecast to go over the minor stage at 14 feet by Thursday afternoon. Moderate flooding is forecast at 15 feet by Saturday with the crest of 15.5 feet by Sunday night.

 

The river at Lake City is expected to rise to minor flood stage of 16 feet Thursday at noon and crest at 17.1 feet by Sunday night. Moderate flooding occurs at 18 feet.

Wabasha contunues to experience minor flooding, measured at 13.56 feet as of Tuesday and the river is forecast to rise to moderate flood level of 14 feet by Friday, and 14.6 feet bu Sunday. Major flooding occurs at 16 feet.
