Following the year long reign for Red Wing native Elle Mark as Miss Minnesota, another SE Minnesota young lady has been crowned.
Rachel Evanglisto, made pageant history Friday, June 17th by becoming the first Native American to win Miss Minnesota, representing southeastern Minnesota as Miss Winona.
Rachel came to Minnesota to pursue her undergraduate degree. In 2019, she graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris, with a degree in Political Science and an emphasis on Law. She has been accepted to Mitchell Hamline Law School where she hopes to obtain a Juris Doctorate in Tribal Law.
Rachel’s Social Impact Initiative is Celebrating Culture and Driving Diversity and she says throughout her service, she will set out to share authentic Indigenous culture, and support Indigenous youth in Minnesota involved in child protection and foster care cases.
