The two simultaneous events that were scheduled for Earth Day Saturday has been moved back to Saturday, May 20 from 9 – 11 am.
Major flooding is expected by Friday so the event, part of the Mighty Mississippi Cleanup Challenge, will take at Colvill Park and at Sturgeon Lake Road and County Road 18. All are welcome at both locations. Trash bags are provided, but please bring gloves and closed toed shoes.
Goodhue County and the City of Red Wing are challenging Minnesota county, city, and watershed districts along the Mississippi River to organize a local event to help clean the river between April 15 and May 15.
Over the years, pollution has caused the Mississippi River to be listed as the 6th most endangered river in the U.S.
