Wingers announce new volleyball coach
Sydney Book has been hired as the new head coach of the Red Wing Wingers girls volleyball team, pending school board approval.
Book, who graduated from Red Wing High School in 2016, was an outstanding high school volleyball player who helped the Wingers make a deep run in the section run in the fall of 2015 that saw the team fall just short of making the state tournament.
Book went on to play college volleyball at UW-Milwaukee and Concordia University in St. Paul. She has coached numerous volleyball camps and clinics and was also the Wingers JV volleyball coach.
Book replaces Nikki Roschen as the head volleyball coach. Book is the third new fall sports coach in Red Wing, joining Emmy Hartman (girls tennis) and Bill Emery (cross country).
The Wingers also have a new boys basketball coach for 2023-24 with Kirk Thompson taking over for Oliver Simmons.
