The House Capital Investment Committee, including Rep. Barb Haley of Red Wing, visited SE Minnesota and made stops in Red Wing, Wabasha and Winona on November 10th.
Representative Fue Lee, Chair of House Capital Investment Committee, says Red Wing presented on two projects to enhance usage of the riverfront: the Riverfront Trail completion project and Phase 2 of the Old West Main/Upper Harbor project. Cannon Falls also presented on the John Burch Park rehabilitation of the 1938 limestone retaining wall.
Wabasha presented its Resiliency Project (Highway 60 Re-route) and the Wabasha Port Authority Barge Terminal Project to provide for off-loading of dredged material from the river channel. Lee says the total requests across the state totals over 5 to 6 billion dollars.
Lee says the ultimate bonding bill will not include all the requests for funding.
The continued vetting of bonding projects will happen during committee hearings when the legislature reconvenes in late January for the 2022 session.
