A local non-profit is now open for season 5 of providing shelter for adult Goodhue County residents experiencing homelessness.
The Shelter is open all week long during the months of November through March, rotating locations at local churches. They open daily at 6 pm and guests leave the next morning at 7:30 am.
Hope & Harbor Executive Director, Liz Magill, says, thanks to volunteers and community partners, each guest’s basic needs are met. Each guest receives two meals a day, access to daily showers, free laundry, and personal hygiene items.
Magill says the warmer start to winter has not meant less guest’s so far this season. They are averaging about 7 guests a night and have had 21 unduplicated adults use the shelter in November and December.
Magill says the majority of people they assist have local ties and, thankfully, they have seen small numbers who need to use their service repeatedly.Â
