Springfield 20 Goodhue 14-The Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter to edge the Wildcats in the State Class A quarterfinals at Rochester Mayo High School.
Goodhue led 7-0 at the half, getting a 21 yard touchdown pass to Sean Matthees from Luke Roschen with Cristian Monjarez adding the extra point with 5:21 to go in the second quarter.
Madden Lendt caught a 31 yard touchdown pass from Parker Kuehn with 56 seconds to go in the third quarter for Springfield but the Tigers missed the extra point as Goodhue led 7-6 heading into the fourth quarter.
Luke Roschen's 14 yard touchdown run and the extra point put Goodhue up 14-6 with 7:33 left in the game but the Tigers tied it on their next possession. Parker Kuehn scored on a two yard run and also ran in the two point conversion to tie it up 14-14 with 3:10 remaining.
Goodhue punted on the ensuing series as Springfield took over on their own 11 yard line with 49 seconds to go. The Tigers quickly marched down the field, aided by a pair of 15 yard penalties against the Wildcats and scored the winning touchdown on a 32 yard touchdown pass from Parker Keuhn to Issac Fredin with 21 seconds left.
Springfield heads to the State Class A semi-finals at US Bank Stadium November 16th with an 11-0 record.
Goodhue ends a tremendous year with an 11-1 record.
