Section 1AA Championship at Rochester Mayo Civic Auditorium:

Rochester Lourdes 60 Red Wing 56-The Wingers marvelous season ended with a heartbreaking loss to the Eagles before a big crowd at the Mayo Civic Auditorium.

The Eagles stormed out to a 16-0 lead before the Wingers git their first basket with 11:21 left in the first half. Red Wing continued to chip away and trailed 27-25 at the half.

The Wingers tied it 27-27 with a basket early in the second half but the Eagles went on another big run to lead 39-27 and led 54-42 with about seven minutes left before Alexa Guetzlaff scored nine points in an 11-0 run to cut the Eagles lead to 54-53 with 2:40 left. The well went dry again for the Wingers as Lourdes scored six points to lead 60-53. Alexa Guetzlaff was fouled attempting a three point basket with 6 seconds left and made all three free throws but the by then the Eagles had the game and the Section 1AA championship secured.

8th grade phenom Amelia Truty had 25 points to lead Rochester Lourdes with Lauren Hust adding 15 and Aaliyah Williams 10. Alexa Guetzlaff led the Wingers with 22 points while Finley Kamps added 14 and Izzy Guetzlaff 13.

Lourdes heads to the Girls State Basketball Tournament next week with a 24-6 record while the Wingers end the year at 25-5...the second most wins in a single season in program history.
