Saturday Scores:

Girls State Basketball Class AA Third Place Game:

Goodhue 79 Minnehaha Academy 68-The Wildcats roared back from an early deficit to zip past the Redhawks at the Gangelhoff Center at Concordia University in St. Paul.

Goodhue trailed 27-12 in the first half but caught fire and took a 37-34 at the half when Elisabeth Gadient drained a three point basket just before the buzzer.

Goodhue continued to push the pace in the second half and led by as many as 21 points at 70-49. The huge Goodhue fan contingent was in a frenzy all the way through to the end of the medal and trophy presentation afterwards.

Elisabeth Gadient poured in 27 points for Goodhue with Kendyl Lodermeier adding 20 and Tori Miller 17. Angel Hill had 20 points to lead Minnehaha Academy with 20 points and Addy Mack added 15.

Goodhue was 27-38 from the free throw line while Minnehaha Academy was 12-20 in a very physical game. It marked Goodhue's second win of the season over the Minnehaha Academy. The Wildcats beat the Redhawks 71-68 on January 7th.

Goodhue finishes the season at 29-4. Elisabeth Gadient (junior) and Kendyl Lodermeier (sophomore) were named to the Class AA All Tournament Team.

It was Goodhue's 9th state tournament appearance but the first time in Class AA. It looks like with the new enrollment numbers for the next two years just released by the MSHSL that the girls team could very well be back in Class A next year.
