State Golf:
The Lake City Tigers Girls Golf team won their second straight Class AA title Wednesday at The Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.
A weather delay of 90 minutes cut the girls tournament to nine holes yesterday and 27 overall for the two day event.
Lake City finished with a two day total of 491 with Fergus Falls a distant second with a 530.
Ella Matzke of Lake City was second individually with a 117 two day total. Jordana Windhorst-Knudsen and Emma Berge were at 123, Brooke Bee 128, Kaitlin Schmidt 139 and Mattie Mears 142.
Red Wing had two individual participants. Bri Novak had a 132 and Bailie Roschen a 143.
The Pine Island-Zumbrota-Mazeppa boys held off a hard charging Holy Family Catholic squad to win the Class AA title at The Ridges at Sand Creek Wednesday. It was the first title in program history.
PIZM had a 616 total with Holy Family Catholic second with a 620.
Anders Larson of PIZM was third overall with a 145. Joseph Scripture had a 151, Michael Scripture a 160, Cameron Bruns 162, Colin Fogarty 167 and Zag Foster 170 to round out PIZM scores.
Amateur Baseball:
River Falls Fighting Fish 9 Red Wing Aces 7
The Aces are 6-10 on the season and play this weekend in the Green Isle/Hamburg Tourney Friday-Sunday. Their first game is Friday against the Montgomery Mallards at 6:45pm.
