Greenwood Prairie Old Settlers


The 149th-annual meeting of the Greenwood Prairie Old Settlers Association will be held on Saturday, April 11, in the Chapel at Green Prairie Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Center in Plainview.


Anyone of any age who is interested in the history of the area is welcome to attend. Coffee, cookies and water will be provided.


The Plainview News reports registration and social time will be from 1 to 1:30 p.m.


There will be an abundance of old newspaper scrapbooks and old pictures pertaining to the history of the Plainview area to view.


Representatives of Lakeside Foods will give a presentation at 1:30 on the history of Lakeside Foods in the Plainview area from early 1900s to the present day. Lakeside Foods started in Wisconsin in 1887, and Lakeside purchased an existing operation in Plainview in 1921.


After this presentation there will be a question-and-answer period, which will be  followed with a time to share stories of days gone by that any attendees may have with the group.


The Greenwood Prairie Place Chapel is located in the walkway between the Nursing Home and Green Prairie Place at 800 2nd Ave. NW, Plainview. 


Feel free to park in either parking lot, and once inside watch for signs directing you to the chapel.
