During last week’s Plainview City Council meeting they approved a resolution setting a public hearing for 6 p.m. Tuesday July 14 at City Hall, in regard to a utility easement vacation in the Eastwood Second Subdivision.
In other words, the legal process by which a city or county officially removes a public utility's rights to a specific portion of your private property.
The Plainview News reports the city has completed a watermain relocation project at 430 3rd Ave. NE. The contractor, Danckwart Companies, has met all the requirements for completion of the project.
Now that the watermain relocation work has been completed and the old watermain has been abandoned in place, the vacation process can begin for the existing utility easement.
City staff will contact utility companies to confirm no utilities fall within the easement proposed for vacation and mail notice to all affected landowners abutting the easement to be vacated.
