Great River Ridge Trail Tree Plantings

The EcoFest Foundation, in partnership with Arborwise Tree Management, the City of Plainview, and numerous community volunteers, recently completed a major tree planting project along the Great River Ridge Trail in Plainview.

Over the course of the project, volunteers planted 32 oak trees and 16 ninebark shrubs, including 24 pin oaks, five swamp white oaks, two red oaks, and one bur oak.

The Plainview News reports the plantings were made possible through funds raised during last year’s EcoFest fundraiser and generous donations from community members who support local conservation and beautification efforts.

Many of the trees and shrubs were purchased at a discount from Sargent’s in Rochester.

In the coming years, the trees will provide shade, wildlife habitat, improved air quality, and enhanced natural beauty along one of the area’s most popular recreational corridors.
