Fatal ATV Accident

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office responded to an ATV rollover at the intersection of County 11 Boulevard and 230^th Avenue near Mazeppa with two occupants on Sunday around  2:20 pm.

The 69-year-old ATV driver from Oronoco attempted to drive up an incline onto the roadway but the vehicle slid down an embankment and landed on the passenger side.

The driver and 69-year-old passenger were trapped in the vehicle until first responders arrived.

The driver sustained minor injuries.

The passenger was attended to by Zumbrota ambulance staff and Mayo Flight also responded.

When Mayo Flight landed, they assisted the Zumbrota ambulance staff with live saving measures, but it was unsuccessful. The passenger was pronounced dead at approximately 2:52 p.m.

Once the medical examiner’s report is final, the names of the occupants will be released.
